16.6 Interviewing 101

Bryan Rose

Interviewing well is all about intentional preparation. Preparation doesn’t make perfect, intentional preparation makes perfect. Googling, “Top 5 interview questions”, and practicing them a few times in the mirror isn’t enough.

So how do we intentionally prepare? This video discusses how you utilize the job description to develop answers for skill sets & experiences the interviewers will be looking for. The job description is the answer to the test! It’s also important to know how to research companies to specifically & uniquely describe why that opportunity & company is interesting to you.

You’ll learn about the STAR Method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) as a way to stay on track and provide thorough detail when telling stories. Also, you’ll get to hear about some common question types and what employers are looking for when they ask them.

Overall, employers want to know that you have the skills to do the job you’re interviewing for and that your approach to work matches their company culture. The only way you successfully do that time after time is through intentional & strategic preparation.
